We're taking out Swedish guests who are staying in Rittenhouse Square. The parameters are: an early dinner, so their one year old can go to sleep around 7:30 or 8 pm; somewhat relaxed room; sophisticated but not too fussy cuisine. (I recently realized that I no longer like food that requires the diner's totally focused attention--too elaborate and you only talk about the food.) I've been thinking early at Melograno or Mandoline might be okay--not crowded or noisy if we get there 5:30-ish. We tried Amada--they're booked. I also thought of Vietnam, because that might be interesting for guests from northern Europe. What else might work? (I hope listing the places we're considering gives an idea of the price range and our taste. Amada was the financial stretch, so Vetri, even if we could get in, is out.)
