tried Duozo last night. the grrl didn't like the smell of the place so we just sat at the sushi bar and i ordered a few things while we decided where to have dinner.
there was a severe language problem talking directly to the sushi chef as i was instructed by our waitress. i finally got my order in, almost, by yelling down to another sushi chef at the other end of the bar.
there was nothing 'special' in last night so i just got uni (from maine, not bad at all), toro and hamachi sashimi, spanish mackeral and unagi. the toro and hamachi were good, but not great and sliced into thick (3/4") blocks, not thin slices, which i prefer. in addition to the sashimi being cut so thick my request for quial egg on my uni didn't make the translation, as did my repeated request for two 'pieces' of each nigiri, i got two 'orders' even though the chef kept repeating 'ok, pieces!'
my grrl's flag on the smell of the place aside we really liked the room and i particularly liked the bar. i'll be back at least once more (alone) on a night closer to the weekend in hopes of a better experience.
