Driving across Eastern Canada

Food Tourist | Jan 7, 2005 12:05 PM

I'll be driving from Cape Breton Island to Toronto sometime in February, and want to take a few weeks and make several stops along the way to visit friends and family. I don't have ANY money as I've been volunteering at L'Arche for several months! Please recommend must-try road food, fast food, markets, stores or cheap restaurants for my journey!

My route will take me along the eastern shore to Halifax, then across to Oromocto/CFB Gagetown, then up to Beechwood/Bath/Florenceville, NB, then over the border to Quebec City, then Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto. Small villages and towns or rest stops along the way between the towns listed above are welcome.

Don't let me down, Chowhounds!

Thanks!
