Dried Shrimp @ Thai Grocery

Yesterday, and for the first time, I noticed that Thai Grocery had a very large bag of dried shrimp behind the counter. They were priced @ $19/lb. for bulk purchase.

Very curious, I asked if I could try one. Remarkable. It had none of the off odours or off tastes (iodine-y) that mar most of the commercial product that I've purchased. It tasted sweet, and it was rather large, as dried shrimp go.

"They are from Louisiana," he said. "The Chinese man makes them." Whatever that means...

p.s. Maybe you know this already. Maybe, as it has been so many times in the past, I just happen to be late to the party. ;)
