Back in 1988, I was visitng Chicago for the first time and I was taken to the top of the Drake Hotel for their Sunday Bruch. If my memory is serving me correctly, they had a offering of over 40(?) different types of Foie Gras and it was at this Brunch that I discovered the wonders and complexities of duck liver for the first time.
I have always lived in L.A. and I may find myself in Chicago soon. So I called the Drake Hotel this morning, after checking their website, to inquire if they still had the same Brunch and the gal that answered said they don't offer that selection, it's on one of the first floors, and politely implied that my memory was not quite accurate. That conversation brought up the need to seek out the advise of this Board on the following:
1) Did the Drake Hotel used to serve Sunday Brunch on the top floor (where the reservations for the window tables were taken months in advance)?
2) Did their Sunday Brunch used to have a HUGE selection of Foie Gras?
3) Do they offer a large selection of Foie Gras now?
4) If the Drake no longer offers a huge selection of Foie Gras for Sunday Brunch, where else in Chicago would be the best place for me to go instead to duplicate that original experience?
