I had lunch at Dragon Wong (301 E Garvey Ave, Monterey Park, (626) 571-8391). It has eight tables and a lengthy and kind of generic menu, so I wasn't expecting much. But I made the waiter translate items on the Chinese-only menu on the wall until something sounded good, namely pork hocks in hot oil sauce (turns out it's in the menu too). It would seem that some part of a pig involving bone, meat, fat, and skin had been cooked in an oily brown sauce for an extended period, until the meat had become suffused with the sauce. In fact the waiter apologized that it hadn't been cooked longer. It was very good, with a rich complicated taste. It also came with some bok choy, which was fine, and some rice, which was a little dry.
