A new sushi restaurant opened up on Sixth Avenue near 14th Street - Hanami - and though the location and the exterior aren't particularly promising - we've been going there regularly and are surprised by the quality of the fish, the varieties, presentation and extensive menu. I'm eager to recommend it as there are few customers (probably because of the reasons mentioned) and it's a place that's worthy of surviving.

Those of who take cell phones to get called when they're ready for us at Blue Ribbon can take heart as this is a place that always has a table. True, it's not as inventive as Blue Ribbon, but it's way above the typical sushi restaurant and is an excellent and easy alternative. They also deliver. Address is 525 Sixth Ave. They're open every day. They're even giving out $3 off coupons when you pay.

We particularly like the special rolls which are listed in a separate section!
