Downtown gas line problem - getting hot lunch anyway?

Lucymax | Apr 30, 2008 03:36 PM

First, I want to say I feel terrible for all the restaurants downtown, because so many of them are affected by the gas/water main disaster of this past weekend. I hear it could take MONTHS to fully fix the leakage of water into the gas lines. As a small business owner, I feel very concerned for all the restaurants. I happened to have lunch dates downtown on Monday and Tuesday. While lots of places were closed, what is open that I noticed is Elephant and Castle (reduced menu, but not bad) and Cafe Fleuri at the Langham Hotel. I like Brandy Pete's and that was closed yesterday -- perhaps open by now? Cafe Fleuri was absolutely packed -- it's not cheap, but perhaps that is going to be the fallback lunch place if you want waiter/waitress service and not just a cafeteria line. The lamb souvlaki salad was quite good, I thought. Anyone else have lunch tips for the duration?
