My husband is a sucker for wood fired pizza and our trip to Doughboys in the Kentlands on Saturday afternoon was a pleasant treat. We enjoyed attentive service, super clean bathrooms and pretty darn good pizza and pannini.
Our two young "chowhounds" enjoyed a plain cheese pizzas, while Mom and Dad shared a portobello pannini and a Cabra pizza (kalamatas, capers, roasted red peppers). The crust was thin with a bit of crunch, the sauces were not too salty and the toppings were fresh. The pannini was excellent...great bread, "meaty" fillings and a good size for lunch.
All in all, a worthwhile experience (we kept thinking "Two Amy's" but not quite on the same level). Our bill, including drinks was $44.00, which was a bit more than our usual tab for a Saturday lunch but considering the quality, not a bad deal at all.
