I ate at WD-50 last night with my boyfriend. We had eaten there once and both had the tasting menu and were blown away, by the whole atmosphere, from the service, to the food, to the flatware, we love it all. Unfortunately last night our experience was not even close to what we remembered. We decided to order a la carte because the a la carte options looked better than the tasting menu. We each got an app and 2 entrees, and desert. The food has really gone down hill here, we were both disappointed and really feel like this restaurant has gotten too popular/ mainstream and forgotten what they are all about (or at least what we thought they were all about). Our service was very mediocre, and we were cramped at a very small table. We spent $300 including tip, 2 cocktails, a beer and a glass of wine. The deserts were the best part of the meal. The French toast was excellent, (brioche, maple syrup gelee, brown butter ice cream, bacon). I had the Skate, which itself was great, but its accompaniments just didn't do anything, they were too forced and the flavors simply weren't there. My boyfriend had the pork belly, which was great, perfectly cooked and super tender. It was a disappointing night for us, because we had always held this restaurant at such high regard, however staying power is what is the most important thing, and now really starting to question if WD-50 has that.
