After reading all the great reviews on this board, I figured to take my in laws to lunch there. They were visitng from denver and we drove all the way to SD from Irvine. When we arrived there, the place was half full and it took a few minutes for them to set a table for the five of us. Within few minutes the place was almost full and there were only two people taking orders and serving. They told us to go for the specials(baked halibut, brisket, pork). Two of us went for the halibut and the other three for the brisket. We also orderd green and caesar salad. It took more than half an hour for the salads to arrive. My caesar salad was oily and the capers were way too salty. I guess they forgot to rinse the capers. Another half an hour passed and I had to listen to my husband complaining!! I don't blame him,it felt like we were sitting there forever. We finally got our food. The halibut was a little over cook and it was bland and the brisket needed some au jus, because it was kind of dry. I asked the waiter for some and it took him fifteen minutes to bring it. He said he was sorry and forgot about it!! My brother in law only ate a piece of his brisket due to this. I was very disappointed and the next day I called the Cafe. I spoke to the owner and explained to him, what has happened and he said they had some problems in the kitchen and promised to send me a GC. Well, guess what? I never recieved it and I call that bad business and bad customer service.
