Mine was this week's jaunt to Blue Point Cuisine in Gaslamp. At the request of my significant other, we ate at the bar for their "Cavi Hour" specials in which there were discounts on caviar, some shellfish, and certain cocktails. (On an irrelevant and cranky note, on Yelp BP was listed as being in "East Village". I found myself being annoyed with that error.)
With $1 oyster shooters, we couldn't resist ordering. We should have resisted. The oysters had a disgusting texure, and I love oysters, with subpar cocktail sauce. The mussels, most certainly not from Carlsbad, had a very odd taste. They were swimming in a coconut and green curry sauce that wasn't too bad but I prefer Currant's similar sauce.) The shrimp cocktail and bread were the high points. Fortunately the bartender was extremely attentive and friendly.
After spending about $50 on two drinks and the above-mentioned appetizers, I felt disappointed. We ended the night at C-Star spending about twice as much but feeling very satisfied.
