Disappointing experience with Oleana

After hearing much about Oleana on this board, we decided to give it a try this evening. Loved the front entry from the sidewalk. Loved the ambiance. Loved the decor (although I did notice the seat cushion was extremely soiled--okay I know that's picky but I notice these things!). Loved the patio. We didn't have reservations so I felt extremely fortunate to even be able to get in the place. Maybe it was because it's a Monday but what started as a good impression went down hill. The place lacked energy, the staff seemed disinterested in providing service (except for the food runner/dish buser ... he was the only real people person we encountered) and the food ... well, it just wasn't that good. Maybe I've been spoiled by the other fine choices in the Cambridge area but my crispy shrimp special was overcooked and tough ... the best part about the entree was the green beans with a fresh tomato sauce. Hubby had the soft shell crab which he says was okay but uninspiring (but he did love his lamb kabob appetizer ... so did I). Maybe our overall expectations were too high. Besides the high mark for ambiance and decor, we also LOVED the noise level (or lack thereof). Overall I'd give the place a B-/C+.
