I bought some char siu bao from the Mix Bakery on Beech street, and was disappointed by them, especially as compared to ones that I've had from Chinatown in NYC. These were more doughy, with less filling, and the dough was a little sweeter than I am used to. What I really didn't like was the filling...unadorned minced roast pork, but without the slightly sweet/savory sauce that the ones from NYC had. In addition, there were a couple of pebbles of who-knows-what in the filling that, while unidentified, I'm sure were not supposed to be there. Any other recommendations for where to purchase char siu bao (or any other types of bao for that matter)?
