Sandie from the Ronald McD House again. I know this post is sacrilege as many of you guys love Mamas On the Half Shell, but I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. I went on Friday night, it took me a while to find Canton, when I got there the wait was 45 minutes. I had no idea if there was anywhere else in the area worth waiting for although Cosmo looked good, so we waited the 45 minutes, something I rarely do for a restaurant. The problem with waiting that long is that you want the food to be worth the wait and Mamas was a mixed bag. Beside the wait the noise of the restaurant was deafening and after a long day in the hospital its the last thing Im looking for. I hoped the upstairs dining room would be a little quieter and it was, just a little. BTW, loved the décor, its another reason why I waited!
I had the crab soup and although I like spicy food, spice was the only thing I tasted, very little crab. My friend had the oysters which were great. I had the fried shrimp, not a great selection I know I could have ordered better but I was tired (my excuse) anyway they were dry and boring, mashed potatoes were great and but the cucumber salad was limp and tasteless. I did enjoy the orange crush drink.
So I guess Im looking for more restaurants like the Brewers Art, still my favorite in Baltimore. Should I try more places in the N. Charles area?
