Dip and Flip-Battersea Rise London

New place on Battersea Rise not far from Clapham Junction Station. It’s a take on the classic French Dip. It’s small simple, with white walls and some tables at the from with long tables and benches at the back. Slightly reminiscent of an All Bar One but with softer lighting and better music (anywhere that play the Pixies and Jurassic 5 has got my vote)
The menu is reassuringly short, a choice of beef, lamb or fried chicken in a torpedo roll with gravy or a burger. Had the beef roll with gravy? Beef was well flavoured and juicy, roll was a little dry on it’s own, perfect for soaking up the gravy (not gravy as I know it more of a just but my it was rich and savoury) Had poutine on the side. First time I’d had it. Expected the curds to be a bit bigger but they were lovely when then melted into the gravy. Difficult to assess the quality of the chips as they were soaked in gravy but it was really good, maybe not authentic but who cares. My dining companions went for the dip and flip burger. A good looking still pink burger that also came with sliced of beef and of course gravy (I detect a theme here).Had a bit, it was quite sloppy when dipped in the gravy and when combined with the cheese on the burger but enjoyable none the less.
The beer choice is good with Goose Island and Brooklyn in bottles and also Sambrooks pale ale on draught from just down the road. Service was bright and engaging.
