We just got back from a two night get away to Richmond and have the following to share:
We ate at Limani our first night and the quality of the fish was par non. The sides were ample and delicious, especially liked the broccolini and white corn mashed potatos! But, something about the ambience is a bit lacking... clean, bright, but not extremely atmospheric.
We decided to go across the street to CanCan for dessert. BOY, was it bustling!!!!!!!! Rather than endure the crowds we decided to try it for lunch the next day. And we thought it was great! The room is a tremendous bistro with a great stainless steel bar. We shared a chicken, lentil salad with pomme frites and sauteed spinach, all nicely prepared. Great service, the help will bend over backwards to make you happy. The cappucinos are the best we have ever had and the machine is a piece of art!
For dinner our second night we went to Hard Shell and together with great service, terrific recommendations and well prepared food, we enjoyed a really nice evening. Great steamed shrimp in old bay, amazing rib appetizer, grilled tuna rare, shrimp and scallop stir fry were all fresh and delicious.
All in all, Richmond has a diverse selection of wonderful places to eat, not too pricey with good service.
