Our Dinner at ZKG

Due to popular demand (by one person), I'll write a few words about last week's dinner at Ze Kitchen Galerie. I was a bit surprised to see that the website lists certain prix fixe choices, but we were given a menu with everything a la carte. Is this the norm? I should have asked the waiter but it didn't really matter to us that much.

My starter was duck ravioli in a wonderful Thai sauce (with foam), and it was definitely my favorite part of the meal The dish is fantastic. Mr. Z. had a broth starter with oysters - very nice, with Jerusalem artichoke - Thai herbs. My main was the Coquilles St. Jacques in a bit of lemongrass sauce and served with sweet potato croquettes that were yummy. Mr. Z. thoroughly enjoyed his pig jowl served with ris de veau. I have to admit, although I don't usually like those choices, the pig was heavenly tender. We shared a dessert of pear with chocolate served with pepper ice cream (I didn't taste any pepper).

The bill came to about €110 which I felt was a bit high (I still, sadly, compare a lgreat deal to my lifetime experiences in NY) but such is Paris. The service was excellent despite the house being full to the rafters by 8:30.
