Dinner at Workshop Kitchen + Bar report (Palm Springs)

Malcolm Ruthven | Feb 15, 201406:46 PM

Last week I did my once-per-year trip to Palm Springs to visit friends who spend the month there. On Friday night two of us went to Workshop Kitchen + Bar. My short summary is great design, mostly quite good food, small portions (including the wine), and too-high prices. I had a salmon dish which was a smallish, pretty thin, somewhat dry but quite flavorful piece of salmon over excellent mashed potatoes, with the smallest amount of Brussels sprouts I can imagine without thinking they accidentally fell on the plate from someone else's plate in the kitchen. $32. My $17 glass of Washington state cab, quite good, was a very small pour. I can't remember what my dining friend had, but it was a more reasonable size and quite good. If I were in Palm Springs frequently, I might try it again. Once a year, I won't be back.
