I'm having several co-workers over for dinner next weekend. I wanted to make a leg of lamb, but when I mentioned this to one of the people attending the party, she said "oh, I've never had lamb before, is it good?"
Well other than that being a lame question (like I'd serve something that isn't good?), it got me thinking... I want to be a good host but I don't want to make something that people won't like or are afraid to try.
So the question is (generally), what is the hosts responsibility/obligation in terms of getting approval of the menu in advance from the guests?
Should I make the lamb and just hope that everyone will eat it? Should I ask all of the other guests if they eat lamb etc.
I understand as hosts we have to be sensitive to our guests dietary needs, but how far should we go?
