dinner at la voile

So we decided to go for a stroll after work and wound up out of the south end at a restaurant called La Voile on newbury. Nice lay out, mixed results with dinner...my wife thought her meal was great, I was thoroughly disappointed. She started with bone marrow and was impressed with the hefty portion. I ordered the roasted golden apple with brie, which was cold all the way through and had barely any cheese on it at all, just a walnut core. For mains I had the choucroute, which was acceptable, but not exciting and she had the steak with green peppercorn sauce and duck fat potatoes. Those were delicious and the steak was nicely done rare. For dessert I had the strawberry charlotte, nice, but nothing to write home about and she had the yummy floating islands, which not only had a caramel drizzle, but the top of the merengue was caramalized as well. Fantastic dessert! Lucky for me my lovely wife felt bad for me for ordering so poorly (or maybe was just tired of my sad puppy face) and offered to switch desserts.
