Dinner and drinks in downtown Toronto

ghague | Mar 19, 201512:44 PM

Hi all -- my brother lives in Etobicoke; unfortunately his wife has just split with him, so I'm flying out there (from Vancouver) for a guy's weekend (arriving Friday March 27th, leaving Sunday March 29th).

We're planning on spending most of Saturday downtown, and I'd like to treat him to a good meal on Saturday night, then some drinks afterward.

What do you think would be a good combo of dinner and drink places, for two brothers looking to wallow in a bit of misery together on a Saturday night in downtown Toronto?

As mentioned, I'm treating for dinner, and would be happy to spend up to $100 per person for our dinner (with dinner drinks; after-dinner drinks not included). I'm a really adventurous diner, and my brother has expressed interest in that sort of thing in the past, so I'd like something of high quality with some amount of inventiveness. Really no restrictions on style of food -- we'll both eat anything. Also, something with a fairly casual vibe. I've only ever been in TO once before (on business) so I didn't get to explore much; I did have a pretty great dinner at Richmond Station, and I think that sort of vibe would work well, but I'm open to other ideas.

After dinner, anywhere you could recommend that might serve a good combo of interesting beers and cocktails?

Thanks very much!
