Diner 24: much better than expected

The service could use an upgrade, especially the door Nazis. But the food was startlingly good. I had the duck meatloaf, just to give the house specialty a try ($16). Really good. My friend had a salad that was nice and another had two fish tacos ($12) that were also tasty.

I can't believe what they did with the space, which had been a dingy, scary Irish diner I went two just once in the six years I worked in the neighborhood. It’s not my taste, but a big improvement and amazing contrast.

It’s great in good weather since window completely open up into the street. Don’t dare walk in through anything but the actual door however, for fear of crossing the aforementioned door nazis.

I wouldn't make it a destination, but the reasonable prices and good food make it definitely worth a stop if you’re in Chelsea.
