To Dine Leisurely between NW OC & San Pedro

I'm visiting in Yorba Linda/Fullerton area and want to meet friends coming from near Fort McArthur in San Pedro. I have been searching the boards and see a lot of places I'd like to try, but so many ethnic hole-in-the-walls aren't the kind of place you'd feel comfortable lingering, possibly have a drink before or after. Our party enjoys most kinds of food, but one can't take too much heat in the food. Last time we went to Park Ave in Stanton and had a good time. The place was fun and the food pretty good. For this time I have been looking in Artesia or Buena Park, but so many of the Indian places don't sound very leisurely. Our English member is enamored of Indian, and we love Thai, but the best place seems to be Issan, and if my experience back home in Queens, NY holds true, they are only good for the hot, spicy stuff. I wouldn't mind Long Beach or Westminster areas for the right place. We wouldn't mind a slightly upscale Vietnamese but we aren't up on the best places at the moment.

By the way, this will be Friday evening, or lunch or dinner on Sunday. We could also eat one place and drink or have dessert or apps at another.

Thanks in advance for all your help.
