I finally got a chance to try out this stalwart on Nanaimo near Broadway. What was I waiting for? Very pleasant, smallish room with good noise reduction and super-efficient air conditioning, reservations, value pricing and of course, CARTS! Nothing too fancy here, you won't find the cutting edge dishes you might at some places in Richmond but that's okay by me. I read recently on a food blog where the blogger's auntie said she didn't feel like she'd been for dimsum unless she had har gau and I concur :-).
I liked all the dishes we had, though there were quibbles here and there, such as the jaozi being a bit dry, and the shiumai as big as tennis balls (though some might count that a bonus!). The crispy fishies were rockin' good, and the eggplant very tender inside. The black sesame balls were really excellent also.
We had a table for 10:30 so didn't have to wait, and you'd probably be okay on a walkin till 11 ish if this Saturday was at all typical. There was a full house by the time we left. We had 11 dishes between four of us and we were all pretty full (I just noticed they only charged us for 10 dishes but photos don't lie!) so not bad for $50 before tip. I plan to return.
