Took the family for what was expected to be a memorable lunch at the Dillard House in north Georgia a few months ago. I'd been a couple of times, and remembered good to excellent cooking and good service. And then, the price was $8.95 for what I counted was 27 separate food items, all you can eat, served family style (killer baked squash, roasted potatoes, and meatloaf.) This last time, the price was (I think) $15.95 for lunch, fewer items, and some that were truly awful (service was not much to brag on, either.) About the only good deal I got was buying their cookbook/history and the "I ate too much at the Dillard House" pig magnet for the refrigerator. On the other hand, we returned to the Smith House in Dahlonega for what I think was a much better meal, and for a LOT less money. Anyone have a comment, or care to recommend places similar to these?
