[DFW] Lochrann's

We took someone who is originally from England to the newly opened Irish pub in Frisco for lunch. http://www.lochranns.com/home

We had
-Boxty Quesadilla (caramelized sweet onion, diced tomato, cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, cured back bacon between traditional Irish potato pancakes)
-Irish Kobe beef Shepherd's pie ($15!!!)
-Irish stew
-Fish & chips

The quesadilla and stew weren't bad. I also liked the soda bread that came with the stew.

The Shepherd's pie was AWFUL. Neither mashed potatoes or beef had any taste or flavor.
I only ate 1/3 of it. Brought it home and added seasoning, but it still tasted awful.
Something was fundamentally wrong with it! My companion said "They should have paid us to eat it!"

Our English guest wouldn't touch it after a bite. (She thought the mashed potatoes were instant.) She said "Mine is better" and I agree she makes much better Shepherd's pies (maybe the English version is better than the Irish version ;-) I also had a better Shepherd's pie at Cheesecake Factory!

Furthermore, she said the fish & chips is better at Bennigan's, which uses beer batter. (She orders fish & chips everywhere.)

She was happy to have Shandy (beer mixed with lemonade), so our trip to "So. OK" wasn't totally wasted ;-)

The total bill for 3 was $60 (1 appetizer, 3 dishes and 2 beers) before tips. Maybe it's a nice place to have beer, but not food...
