My wife and I went to Destination Dining in (south) St Louis (county) the other night and had a marvelous experience that I encourage any chow hounds within reasonable driving distance to take advantage of for a great night out of food.
Their concept is simple: choose a region/country each month and design a multi-course menu highlighting the specialties of that region. This month was Portugal, a cuisine not available in the StL restaurant scene. the dishes were well thought out, very well prepared, of the right size so that we could still walk out of the place, and the whole thing was priced right--$40 per person for a 6-course meal plus a 5-wine flight for $20.
August is Scandanavia and we can't wait to make our reservations.
For more info, I have added a few links--one is the restaurant's web site, the other a restaurant discussion forum hosted by the local paper with some threads about the restaurant (right here: http://forums.stltoday.com/viewforum....)
