Demise of the Spider roll

Auger | Apr 12, 2014 08:02 PM

About 2 months ago while eating sushi with a friend, we decided to order a spider roll, its been years since both of us has ordered one, and when it came, we we're like "Where's the rest of it?" Do you remember how it was before, where each piece filled your whole mouth and the end pieces needed 2 bites. We've ordered spider rolls from a number of places trying to find a classic spider roll. Eddie Hills(hallandale), Hiro's(North Miami), Thai House II(North Miami), Kampai(Sunset, 2 photos), even a sushi place in Costa Rica (1 photo).

It looks like they are only using 1/2 of a crab, considering some places have a soft shell crab app which comes with 2 whole crabs, for the same price of the spider roll, we may just order the app and then put it on top of another roll and make our own creation.

Does anyone know of a sushi place that still does the spider roll, old school style?
