i thought i'd report on the quirky little west village brazilian place DELICIA.
we split a tart caipirinha to start. ironic considering its tropical origin, i had what is probably the best main dish ever for our cold weather this winter -- a bubbling pot of feijoada. dense with black beans, onions, sausage and beef including a giagantic piece of oxtail, it was very very 'delicia' and filling. the feijoada is served with the traditional sides of rice, collard greens, farofa grain and oranges. my spouse had a stew of shrimp/squash/sweet potato in coconut milk which was also very good.
for those unfamiliar with this restaurant, be prepared for the quirkiness--a screaming cat, creaky space heaters, and french doors that open and let in cold winds straight off the hudson so dress warm. yet you will also find a wonderfully kind proprietor who speaks little english and does all the cooking and table service herself bless her.
DELICIA is about a half block west of LE ZOO. fyi-inexpensive.
