Dee's Pizza in Forest Hills

Brooklyn Boy | Mar 25, 2002 11:54 AM

I had some friends in town over the weekend and had planned to take them to Nick's for a bite to eat. However, after looking up Nick's on citysearch and seeing dozens of complaints about how rude the service is, I chose Dee's, on Metropolitan Avenue. It was the best pizza I've had to date. The crust was lightly charred on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. For toppings we had mozzarella, feta, eggplant, artichoke hearts and red peppers, all with a delicate tomato sauce. We also tried two soups, cream of broccoli and lentil with orzo. The menu offers a pretty wide range of items, and the salads that I saw the waiters taking to other tables looked fresh, colorful and tasty. The staff was quite friendly and our order arrived quickly. The bill was a mere $18 for three hungry adults. Dee's is located at 10402 Metropolitan Avenue. The nearest train stop, as far as I know, is 71st/Continental. Phone number is (718)793-7553.
