My husband and I are arriving for a trip to Rome, Tuscany and Florence on December 26 and arriving on the 27th. I have been to Italy many times, but this is my husband's first time, so I want to make sure each meal counts. We live in NYC and love food, so our bar is high! That being said, not every dinner needs to be a fancy one and we are more than happy to end up in a casual enoteca if the food is good. My thoughts are:
Dec 27: either Hostaria Baldus (near our hotel on the outskirts of Rome) or Cul de Sac - we will be jet lagged and tired, so want something more casual. We also will probably eat lunch when we arrive at 3pm, so we want something lighter.
Lunch recommendations for our very first meal appreciated!
Dec 28: La Gatta Mangiona
Dec 29: Perilli
Dec 30: no plans, we are staying in Orvieto - recommendations appreciated!
Dec 31: reservations at Tipica Trattoria Etrusca in Orvieto for NYE
Jan 1: no plans, we are staying in Pienza - recommendations appreciated!
Jan 2 - 4: Florence - I lived here for a period of time so have a multitude of places I would like to visit, but would take any recommendations as I haven't been in 5 years.
