I haven't been around LA long enough to know the whole Sam Woo story, but every time I hear someone refer to these restaurants there is almost a degree of historic reverence (i.e. "The original Sam Woo location!", etc.) Yet the food seems to be rated by hounds as mediocre (I have never eaten at any of these restaurants).
So I ask you, Angeleno hounds, what's the deal with Sam Woo? What's to revere about the history of this place in Los Angeles? Is it just a case of his being the first of its kind, and now it has sprouted up like Chinese McDonald's?
Thanks for your input!
