This is a pretty down-home place specializing in stoemp, a local mashed potato dish. Here it's made with leeks and herbs and probably a bit of cream and lard (it's very filling), and served with your choice of side dish. You can get stoemp with bacon, with a sausage, with bacon and sausage, with a pork chop, or with beef stew. (I didn't notice any vegetarian options.)

I tried out the boerenworst (a nice hearty farmer's sausage), and a tasty beef stew made with kastelbeer (all spellings are approximate). For starters, a tomato stuffed with tiny grey shrimp and served with cucumbers, endive and mayonnaise, and fantastic cheese croquettes filled with a tangy emmenthal and encased in a very crunchy shell. The homemade bread was nice, served with tubs of both butter and lard.

It all went down very well with the local Antwerp brew - De Koninck - although wine is also an option. Mains are around 8-10 euro.

If you want an after-dinner drink, just down the street there's a bar serving 200 kinds of genever!
