Well, actually it was the third day here; but the first, eating-wise. Let's welcome a new Chowpup: Sylvia has been living in the Shanghai Children's Welfare Home for the last 10 months (she was a month old when she was found), and in Ellen's and my hotel room for the last 2 days. She is healthy and happy, and she loves to eat!
Yesterday was the first day we braved the city streets; the first two days we subsisted on lousy room service. For lunch we went to a noodle shop in the subway station near our hotel (I'll post details when we get home), for dinner, to a chic restaurant called Xiao Hu Chef's. Both had some English translations on their menus so we were able to order with some degree of confidence.
Well Sylvia is seeking my attention, gotta run -- see you soon.
