Recently, I was chatting with two different folks from Mexico who both recommended what they thought was the best taco stand ever. They both pointed to the same place in Tijuana, Baja California. Naturally, I had to go!
"Tacos el Gordo" is located next to a wholesale vegetable market and is nothing more than a shack with a few picnic tables. But damn, those tacos were TASTY. Carnitas, al pastor, carne asada. It was all divine. They didn't offer much else except soda and quesadillas, but it was worth the trip!
And don't worry if I don't provide an address. (I don't know the name of the street.) A friend of mine from Tijuana told me before my expedition that EVERYONE who lives there knows where it is and can point the way. (And they did!)
Any other excellent taco recommendations!
