Danbury and Southbury restaurants--need recs.

I need recommendations for good American restaurants in the Danbury or Southbury areas. I'm looking for a place that has a steak, chicken, fish kind of menu, is not too pricey (entrees averaging no more than $17), and somewhat kid-friendly. The day after Thanksgiving we're going to go out to eat so I don't have to cook a second big dinner, but we have a low-carb eating diabetic, another on Atkins (and in the early phase), and a 2.5 year old. I also suspect that my parents will want to pick up the tab, so I don't want to do too pricey.

The places I know nothing about but may fit the bill are Outback Steakhouse (I know it, and it works, but I'd like a non-chain), Abe's Steak and Seafood (Danbury), Jim Barbarie's (Danbury), The Olive Tree (Southbury), and Ernie's Roadhouse (Danbury). There is also The Cookhouse in New Milford (a favorite of everyone's), but I am not sure for how many they take reservations. We'll have seven at least, but possibly another 4.

If you've been to any of these (with good or bad experiences) or have other recommendations, please pass them along!

Thanks in advance.
