damask falafel in east village

got some takeout tonight from the very nice proprietor (a little forgetful, but super nice) and I walked out with their greek salad and a container of the moujadara (lentils and bulgur wheat). I also picked up a dessert sampler for $3.50 (probably yesterday's pastry but according to the friends I picked it up for, still really good.). the salad was perfectly marinated (a little longer than usual) and delicious; the lentil dish was very tasty and extremely hearty, almost too dry to the point of crunchy, but perfect in that respect and the hot sauce he serves is out of control. the sampler consisted of a lady finger (mostly pastry), a square of harisa (semolina plus coconut, amazing) and a square of baklava.

very happy with this, and he seems a generous hand with all the sandwiches.
