New Dallas Find...dinner and a drive

Recently dined at Cafe "C" in Litte Elm near Frisco (tollway north then 720 west). It was a complete success. The owners are ex-Mirabelle and have taken french cuisine and melded it with a family friendly environment that is well worth the drive. The menu is filled with obvious attractions like roasted duck, chicken chasseur and grilled tuna but there are also hidden delights like french onion soup, caesar salad and Alsacian style pizza. It was easily the best onion soup I have ever had and the pizza was sensual but light enough to be an appetizer. The wine list is all under $40 and all french but just ask and they will immediately hook you up with a $20 delight. The really cool part is that like Thomas Avenue Beverage Company, there is serious food for adults as well as kid pleasing food. There is also a nice bar overlooking the lake with cigars and a better than average apperitif list (try the Glenrothes scotch). It's a 40 minute drive from downtown but it is the perfect choice for a dinner and drive a group, a couple or a family.
