We are in the process of scouting out some places to host a wedding rehearsal dinner in October! The Daily Planet is one on our list, we thought we would try it, since it has been a couple of years since we were there!
The place was very crowded, but they seated us at a small table for two in the center of the dining room. I was given a quick tour of the "Star Room" where our dinner would be held and it is gorgesous!
We decided on the Fixed Price menu that goes for $16.95/pp, an amazing value for what you receive. We started with a cup of lobster bisque, perfect temperature and wonderful flavors. A glass of Pinot Noir from the Santa Barbara area was our drink with the meal.
Next came a small salad of very fresh field greens with crutons, tomato in a very nice oil and vinegar dressing. Foccacia bread was also served, warm and wonderful with the dipping oils.
My entree was the rib eye steak with Bernaise sauce, sliced very thinly accompanied with fresh steamed veggies that were wonderful and garlic mashed potatoes. Very nice size portion and very, very good!
DH chose the chicken with angel hair pasta that was also excellent. Desserts are included, we sampled one of each. I chose the lemon pound cake with a dallop of whipped cream and a small portion of lemon pudding. Very good! The other dessert was a small serving of vanilla bean ice cream with a hot fudge sauce that was also excellent. We are seriously considering this place for our rehearsal dinner.
I give the Daily Planet a big thumbs up! Still wonderful and going strong! Service was attentive and professional. I highly recommend anyone in the Tower District to check out this gem! Cheers!
Next we're off to Ducey's on the Lake for our Valentine's dinner, probably the steak and lobster and a stay in a spa suite! ***kim***
