Another "dad-in-town" query: USC area, $$

Sorry to bombard the board with these sorts of questions, but my father is visiting town next month, and I'm looking a couple good restaurants. He likes thai, vietnamese, pacific rim, nouveau american, californian, indian, mediterranean, middle eastern and fusion-type cuisines. He's quite adventurous. It would be great if the price point for entrees is somewhere between $10 and $18. And, a liqour license is mandatory!

We'll be going out to REDCAT on a Sunday, so I'm looking for some pre-theater dining downtown. Unfortunately a lot of places are closed on Sunday. I'm thinking maybe Engine Co. 28 or Pete's. Any better ideas?

And for Monday, we'll be doing a bigger dinner with a few of my friends. Somewhere close to USC is prefered. Some ideas I had were The Two Nine, El Cholo, or Luna Park (which is a bit longer drive); but again, I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!
