D&A Cafe, Oakland Chinatown

Just a quick heads-up to those looking for good food in Chinatown. D&A Cafe has a Hong Kong-style cafe menu of Chinese interpretations of Western food. But they also have a special menu of items served family-style, 3 for $15.99 or $5.50 each. We ordered curry chicken, salt-and-pepper prawns, and spicy string beans with minced pork. We added a beef in black bean sauce chowfun. Portions were extremely generous for the price. The curry was a bit boring and the chowfun was too greasy. The other 2 were pretty good, even more so considering the price. The menu was a full 2 pages long (must have had at least 50 choices, I think) and had some great sounding stuff on it. Several seafood choices too, not just cheap stuff. It's worth exploring to find the good choices on this long list. The place is a bit of a dive but isn't too intimidating. Staff was efficient if a bit brusque.
