Last Fridays Tribune in the Friday section next to the dining page was a full page ad for a new "Chicago Gourmet Produce & Food Market" at 1325 W Randolph. I read the ad noted great prices plus 20% off the entire order if you present the coupon. Since Friday afternoon is our shopping day, I decided to try this new place.
First let me say the ad says free parking (needed during the week in this area.) There is a parking lot but I couldn't tell if it belonged to the store or the building on the other side of it and anyway no parking was available in the lot.

Second it is not really a supermarket it is about the size of a food mart.

Third the produce was beautiful. Can't tell you about the taste as we had a big problem. None of the prices in the ad were the same as the prices listed. Free Boar's Head Hot Dogs one per customer was in the ad but none available.

I started to put things in my cart and then decided to go to the people at the check out counter to see about the price differences.

I was told the ad was wrong that the sale was not until 1/29. I said the ad didn't say that. They agreed. No disclaimer ie ad wrong was posted. I asked if they would honor the ad, they said no. I said that was false advertising, they said so what. I said I would report it to consumer services they said go ahead I'm not the owner. With that I left my cart, milk, frozen food and all standing there walked out and dialed 311.

No one else was in the store when I was there. With that attitude and advertising I am sure no one will come soon or return.
