I ate at a new Cuban place in Ahwatukee-Babaloo's. It's located where Java Jive used to be, in strip center at corner of Desert Foothills and Chandler Blvd. Menu was somewhat limited, and most dishes included rice and black beans. I had the shreded pork and my wife had the Chicken and Chorizo. My portions weren't too bad, but I noticed that others around me who had ordered the same dish actually got different garnishings on top of pork. Also, my wife's plate had a roasted chicken leg quarter that was one of the smallest thjat I had ever seen, along with 2 tiny pieces of chorizo on a bed of yellow rosito.(sp)
We drank some pretty good Mojitos, problem was the glasses were very small and the mojito's were $9.00 each. Very expensive for about 8oz glasses.
My dish was $15.00 and my wife's $13.00. For portions and contents on plate, seemed to be a little light on value. Throwing in the drinks, value became very light.
Spoke to chef/owner and gave opinion on food servings and wished him good luck.
For my dollars, a little over-priced without a lot of flavor in food.
