CT Supermarkets

Help. I give up. I moved to New Haven from Seattle five years ago, and I'm STILL lugging groceries back from NYC on Metro North.

Aren't there ANY good supermarkets in Central/Southwest Connecticut? The produce dosn't go much beyond ceberg lettuce, and poor in quality. No lemon grass, only wilted herbs. Tomatoes hard as bricks. Meat? Better get it over the internet, you'll do better.

With all the $$ in CT, you'd think Whole Foods would catch on. I know, I've been to the one in Greenwich. But how often can I drive an hour and back for veal?
