I'm having a dinner party for 12 next week; my tiny apartment won't allow everyone to sit all at once so I'm making a lot of heavy finger food and small plate-type dishes. I've never had this type of party before so I'd appreciate any critiques or suggestions you could offer. It's sort of asian-themed, just because I have several recipes of that nature I'd like to try - some of which you may recognize as they have been inspired by the chowhounds!
1st course (as guests arrive):
-roasted five-spice nuts
-crudite - jicama, blanched yellow beans, cherry tomatoes, rolled cucumber slices
-perhaps a fun asian-inspired cocktail?
-poke salad with rice crackers
-cold soba noodles with cucumber and mango (served with chopsticks)
-miso-glazed salmon skewers (perhaps with a dipping sauce of some kind?)
-steamed snow peas with sesame seeds
-sticky rice flavored with shiitake mushrooms, served
in banana leaves
-grilled pineapple seasoned with five spice, with vanilla ice cream and coconut sauce
Additions? Deletions? Suggestions of any kind?? Thanks!
