Crappy dining in Baltimore

Mary | Oct 13, 2003 10:00 PM

I know, I know, I should have perused the Chowhound site and/or posted questions before our weekend trip. However, I trusted our B & B hosts who recommended Crabby Dicks in Fells Point. The crabs were okay, the soup was so-so, my college-aged son's steak was terrible. The waitress apologized over and over and over, really getting on our nerves, but not actually doing anything to correct the situation. [The steak was overdone and when he sent it back the "chef" responded by sending him back an inedible mass of gristle and fat.]

The next night we tried the Tampico Mexican Grille on Charles Street, near our B & B. Terrible service, incredible noise (our waitress could not hear our orders), mediocre food, and bad treatment. My $4.95 sangria was served in a red wine glass, so with the ice and fruit I had about 3 oz. of fluid. I asked if I could buy a half pitcher, minus what I had drunk, for $8.75 and the manager said no. How's that for customer relations?

We had an Italian lunch in Towson which was pleasant, Paolo's or something. On our next visit - our son is in his first year at Goucher - I will be checking and questioning Chowhound, I promise.
