There was a good article in the Marin IJ today re the unusually good crab catch this year...big, plenty, and tasty. Very optomistic that this will be a bumper local crab year. I called Western Boat in San Rafael (I think the best around) and live sell for $4.99, cooked $5.49. They are one of the few places that know how to cook crab...they even put salt in the water. They cook daily. My daughter saw crab advertised in SF Mission district for $2.99...with local crab at $2.30 wholesale from the crabber...can these be local, or leftover Northern crabs? I have always been cynical about the honesty of the vendors...since most people can't tell the difference.
