The snow and cold have made me reconsider heading out to the West Village tonight. I'd really like to find somewhere in the Gramercy area where I can have some nice red wine, good food, and finish it off with a cheese plate. So I guess French, Italian, or Spanish are my best bets. Somewhere cozy, dark and warm, with a good ambience. (Probably not the Park Ave South scene - trendy is so much easier in warm weather.) We just went to Casa Mono (which I liked, BTW, and it's pretty much the type of place I am looking for) so that's out. Not up for the cost/production of something like Gramercy Tavern tonight. Have read some good posts about Giorgio's of Gramercy - what is the ambience like there? Also, I seem to remember some 'hounds complimenting a French restaurant in the neighborhood, but I cannot find it in my searches - any ideas? Thanks so much!
