COVID Safe Restaurants - My fave, Essex
My favorite neighborhood restaurant has been Essex for years. Great burger, Spanish octopus, lightly battered calamari, and great drinks. Plus they know their regulars and extend their excellent happy hour with bar menu for them.
(I'm not sure when a happy hour menu became my early bird special but it's been one of the easier aging transitions.)
Now I'm really grateful for Essex because they are so, so conscientious. Their space is already very airy with high ceilings but they installed HUGE new air filters on both levels. The servers and hostess check vaccinations diligently and mask up and tables are spaced apart.
Their outdoor seating is really cute with good heaters and it is open on the side.
I DO NOT TRUST these outdoor cubicles that are completely enclosed. Where's the air exchange? That's not safe, that's just cold.
Omicron has kept people out of restaurants and hit Essex hard, especially the last three weeks. I hope you all can support them and our other favorite neighborhood restaurants that are working so hard to keep us socially engaged and SAFE.
